Sacramental Preparation

Baptism of Children under 5 Years, please complete a parish registration form (if you are not already registered). Then fill-in a Baptism application form, obtainable from the Presbytery and return it to Monica Wafford, who arranges Baptism preparation courses, and the baptism itself. She is normally available on Wednesday morning at the Presbytery.

For any enquiry about Sacramental preparation or catechesis for children over 5 years, and of young people, and to best help you, please complete an ‘Enquiry for Preparation’ form, obtainable from the Presbytery. The Catechetical Co-ordinator will contact you. There is also a catechetics notice board in the church Porch of OLSG.

Baptism of Children of 5 years & over, baptism of these older children, and the preparation needed beforehand, is arranged individually.

Children’s Liturgy (ongoing preparation), for children aged 3-6 years and 7-10 years, there is on-going catechesis during the Liturgy of the Word at the 9.15am Mass. Help is always welcome and to receive training to volunteer (rota-basis), please contact Sybil Lee.

Children at non-Catholic schools, Saturday classes (10:30-11:30 am) ensure adequate preparation for the Sacraments. A further form is available from Presbytery.

First Reconciliation / First Communion Preparation, for children aged 7 years and over. Meeting for September intake is in April.

Confirmation, for young people aged 13 years and over. Meeting for September intake is in April.

Special Need Support, children and adults are prepared according to their particular need.

Adult Preparation for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, is via the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). The group meets most Wednesdays at 8 pm in the Presbytery. For further details click here or contact one of the Parish Clergy or Michael Walsh via the Presbytery.
