LIVING STONES

The first History of the Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St George was written by Herbert Vaughan and published in 1992. In preparing a new edition to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the consecration of our parish church, we have drawn heavily on Mr. Vaughan’s work and readily acknowledge our debt to him.

In bringing the History up-to-date, the group assembled by Fr Richard Andrew is very appreciative of help received from many parishioners, principally in the form of contributions to the text and in the loan of photographs. In a sense they are the successors of Fr John O’Halloran whose early work formed the basis of the opening chapter of our parish story.
